Alan & Doreen Clays

Alan and Doreen Clays have been dancing in Saint John for many years. They have been active in their club, Ties & Frills, holding various executive positions. They have supported dancing from sea to sea, from PEI to British Columbia. They were the couple that organized the Silent Auction which was held at the kick off dance for Convention 2002. In 1999, they became the General Chair Couple of Convention 2002. In 1999, do you think that Alan & Doreen realized that they were taking on a full time job? They traveled extensively to promote the Convention. Alan & Doreen met every challenge that was presented to them and with the help of Convention 2002 Board Members, Committees Chairs, and an army of volunteers were able to put on the greatest Maritime party of all time, Convention 2002.

On behalf of the Federation of Dance Clubs and all NB Dancers, it was a pleasure to present the Distinguished Service Award to Alan & Doreen Clays for their outstanding contribution to the dance activity as a whole, and in particular to their outstanding leadership which ensured the success of Convention 2002.
